Why do independent shops matter?
Washington had 2,106 employer firms in the electrical-contracting and other wiring-installation category in Census’s 2022 data. Of those firms, 88.2% had fewer than 20 employees. There are many smaller businesses to consider; firm size alone does not tell you their ownership, qualifications or schedule.
Our private community gives your project an established set of working relationships. We coordinate the electrical work with related wall repairs, HVAC or plumbing when the job needs more than one trade.
U.S. Census: 2022 Statistics of U.S. Businesses, NAICS 238210What do the earlier hiring surveys show?
AGC’s Washington surveys reported hourly-craft hiring difficulty of 79% in 2023, 93% in 2024 and 85% in 2025. The 2026 hiring question asks about change from the prior year: 66% said as hard, and 21% said harder. That is a different measure.
These surveys show recurring construction hiring friction, not a shortage count for Lacey electricians. The share citing worker-related project delays fell from 50% in 2023 to 27% in 2025, then was 28% in 2026. Those are shares of respondent firms, not shares of projects or lengths of delay. The useful step is to check availability for your particular project.
